Year: 2017 Hanson and the Beast is a fantasy romance film directed by Xiao Yang, starring Feng Shaofeng, Liu Yifei, Li Guangjie, and Guo Jingfei, with supporting performances by Jiao Junyan, Xiong Naiqi, and Zhu Jie. The story follows the unexpected relationship between Yuan Shuai, a human, and Bai Xianchu, a fox demon hiding in the modern world. In this project, I led a two-person design team responsible for all Fictional User Interfaces (FUI) used by the demon world characters. Our goal was to strike a visual balance between cyberpunk-style technology and narrative clarity, while designing interfaces that served the story rather than simply decorating it. All FUI designs were created entirely in Chinese—posing both a linguistic and stylistic challenge in a genre typically dominated by English interfaces.
